Projects

The Consular Club provides school materials to 400 children from poor families in three villages in Can Gio. The children are 1st and 2nd graders.

The Sozo Café in HCMC received a new professional coffee machine. Sozo’s staff consists of disadvantaged individuals who are trained in cooking, baking, serving, business management and English.

To encourage secondary students to stay in school, 198 poor school girls (mostly Khmer) are provided with food during school days. The Club partners Room to Read Vietnam in this project.

The Club supports 45 children in a shelter, who were not educated previously, by donating school supplies and books.

With this project, the Club is supporting 75 orphans by providing food and education, as well as  17 homeless elderly by providing food and shelter and supporting two teachers by paying their salary for one year.

This project supports Phuoc Loc Housekeeping school in Baria Province. The school teaches students not only in core housekeeping skills, it also promotes mutual understanding and responsibilities and employment opportunities to rural women, aged between 19-35 years old.

With the donation of 6 computers and IT training, the project aims at improving the education and skills of hearing handicapped students at Ho Lan School in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai Province.

Consular Club supports the Temple by providing food for 110 daycare children from very poor families in the surrounding area.

The 225 pupils of grade 1-5 at Trieu Thi Trinh Primary School, Xuan Hung commune in Dong Nai Province will receive school uniforms and school supplies in order to be able to attend school as their parents cannot provide for these items.

The Consular Club is working closely together with the Tien Tham Red Cross Binh Thanh on this, providing condensed milk for cancer patients who cannot swallow solid food. The milk is distributed to 200 patients every week during 12 months.

Also for this project, the Club supports Tien Tham Red Cross Binh Thanh by financing the purchase of 33 wheelchairs for poor disabled people, aged between 17 and 80, to mobilize these people in order to make a living on their own, by selling lotto tickets.

At  the Duong Lao Tinh Thuong Vinh Son Center in HCMC, 64 old ladies (no family, no housing, no money) are currently being cared for the last years of their lives. The Club is pleased to be able to support the Center by providing them with this machine to sterilize their medical equipment.

This is a continuing project in partnership with Hands-On Saigon, with a total of 485 tanks built since 2005. This year 100 tanks are being provided to the poorest families in An Thoi Dong Community as they have no access to clean water.

The Club is funding 50 scholarships for underprivileged, gifted students in Long Tri and An Luc Long, in close cooperation with the Women’s Union of Chau Thanh district.

The Club has been supporting St. Joseph’s in previous years, including 2009. Our support for 2010 consists of providing snacks and milk for the 20 orphans and the 140 poor children attending the Free School.

This is an ongoing project, where the Consular Club this year funds the payment of three teachers and school supplies for 32 children.

This continuing project provides for the purchase of basic school supplies to help educate children in this isolated mountainous area.

Continuation of basic hygiene project (hand washing) for pediatric cancer patients.

This project will supplement the basic food needs of the disadvantaged children in five homes and shelters (total 117 children) by providing them with monthly rice and milk.

 

For the construction of this bridge, replacing a dangerous old damaged monkey bridge, the Consular Club is pleased to be working together with the People’s Committee of Dong Hung A Commune.

Scholarships beginning school year 2010 for 5 gifted, handicapped students in disadvantaged circumstances. This brings to 30 scholars supported by the Club, in partnership with the Fund since 2005.

Continuation of support for cataract eye surgery for 150 patients in close cooperation with Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients SAPP.
